Anyone have steps for installing WAS ND 7.0? IE Recommended selections for launchpad.sh. I can't believe Lawson can provide the gz files, but not a single install guide.

I have instructions with screen shots for installing 6.1.0.25. I assume it would be similar. There was some difference when I did the original installed 6.0.X.X. of websphere 4 years ago to the version I did in December, but it wasn't that different.
I have the information in a complete install document (ADAM, Websphere, Cobol, Bouncy Castle, etc...) that I made when I did the install/upgrade.
If you want a copy:

I just wne through this myself and found all the online IBM docs to be sufficent for the task. I would suggest starting from here.

Thanks JohnO. I was able to install WAS ND 7.0 and FixPacks 7009. I found the document you linked. Between that, Tom's install notes, and my old install notes I was able to get everything installed. The one tricky problem was bouncy castle. In the old release I could use the SUN JCE policy files for both the OS java and WAS java, but for 7.0 I had to use the SUN JCE policy files for the OS java and the IBM JCE policy files for the WAS java. I have a few errors when running the bctest-jdk16-145.jar. Not sure if they will cuase a problem or not. When you run the bc tests are your results clean?

The really frustrating part was I found the individual install guides on the IBM website for each of the tar files available on the lawson support site, but I couldn't download them because we don't have an IBM Site ID because we purchased WAS ND through Lawson. It would be nice if Lawson could provide these install guides on the lawson site.

It is expected some crypto test will fail, when you install the environment, choose the one that pass.

I know this is a bit of an old thread, but Tom and David, could you possibly send me your guides as well? Doing a new install, and Websphere is definiitely a weak point for me.
Thanks!

David-
This guide has been a life saver. Thanks again.
Couple issues I'm having, hoping someone can help..
I'm installing on a Win2k8 server. I installed the IBM HTTP server. Is this correct? Should i have changed the ports listed in the .conf files, as the defaults 80 and 8008 won't let the HTTP Server and admin server start (iis is installed on the server).
Second, I'm unable to get to the :9080/Snoop page, even if i edit the .conf files and get the http and admin services running. Ideas?

Is there a reason you're running two web servers?

Other than lack of knowing what I'm doing
?
That was part of the question i guess. I know I'm following a Unix guide from David, but I did install the WAS HTTP server, wondering if it was necessary. I have a kind of guide that the previous guide captured while working with the original Lawson installer, but the HTTP piece was one I wasn't sure of.
So I can safely remove the IBM HTTP piece? That's good, one less thing to maintain.
The system i'm building is really just to see "if I can". Once I have this system built and a better walkthrough, i'm going to have it replaced with a new virtual and walk through the installation again as a true test server.

I think I'd uninstall IIS and go with the IBM HTTP Server. I'm more comfortable with it. Either way is fine.

I've removed the IBM HTTP server, as I know IIS way better.
I still can't get to the :9080\Snoop page. Is there something I'm missing? IBM services are running. Was I supposed to configure the IIS site to include 9080? (guessing not, but had to throw it out there)

Do you have the WebSphere plugin installed in IIS?

Nope. That sounds like that would make sense.

Port 9080 is independent from IIS, so plugin has no bearing. Are you testing :9080/Snoop from your desktop or from the server?

Do you see the dll in your list of ISAPI filters in IIS? Is it the first in the list?

Good point about the ports. You're absolutely right.

John-
I've tried the 9080/sloop from both my workstation as well using localhost.
And yes, I see the dll in my list...and it's now the first in the list.

The other thing to check is to make sure the application is started. You may have the application server up, but the application might not be started.

Not sure if this could have a bearing at all, but I'll throw it out there...in the process of setting up Websphere, i created a second profile. I need to delete that yet, but at the moment it's still there. I'm not selecting it for any of the installs, and the main profile did show 9080 listed in the ports.

Did you install the "Default Applications" when installing WAS? Snoop is part of that option.
If you just browse to
http://localhost:9080/
what do you see?
If you get a 404 error that means WAS isn't running.
If it is, you should be: SRVE0255E: A WebGroup/Virtual Host to handle / has not been defined.

Ahh, I think we may be getting somewhere then...
I opened up the administration console, go to Applications | Application Types | Websphere Enterprise Applications, and tried to start the default application. It errors saying "server server1 on none <servername>Node01 that contains DefaultApplication has not been started?
Am I close?
