I'm new to LSF9 and trying to figure out how to restrict user(s) from drilling on "employee" and viewing of social security.

      Morning Jose,
As you may know, you can lock down HR11, and you can hide the the SSN in HR11 for those who can see HR11, but access via drills and Add-Ins is controlled by TABLES (files).

To prevent everyone from seeing the SSN via drills, and assuming your system has the EMPLOYEE table in only one security class, do this:

      - In the Security Administrator, dig into that Security Class.
      - Hit the + beside the EMPLOYEE table (it will be green).
      - Click on FICA-NBR.
      - Click the "Deny Any Access" radio button, which changes the FICA-NBR to red.
      - Click the Apply button at the bottom.

Done. Nobody can see the SSN via drills or Add-Ins.

There are various ways to allow specific people to see the SSN via drills - let me know if you'd like to go there and I'll explain them, or you're welcome to call me if you'd like!

      Best regards,
      Dave

Also just a thought, if you want to restrict the SSN from the EMPLOYEE table and the HR11 screen, you must think about drillarounds, and other reports which have the SSN. Also there are some ESS screens which have the SSN.

          Hello Dave,
Thank you for the response. Being that I'm new, I'm being provided with very minimal information from work, however, they require me to do things that I haven't even learned or have been shown in a 1 month period. I've tried contacting Lawson support, they are not much help. You have already provide me with more info than what my work or Lawson has been able to provide, so I want to thank very much.

I would like to know how to allow specific people to see certain info via drills. All ESS has access to substantial information. Since ESS does not provide the search box, there is no way for associates to access any forms. However, there are a few ESS users that need the search box available to find specific forms, the only problem, if I provide them with the ability to search, they can view all the access provided in ESS security class.

            Jose,
There are a couple of ways to configure LS9 so that a user with a searchbox can only see their own record if they go to HR11. But then there are the HR employees who should see other records, but not be able to update their own! Call me and I can tell you more about how to do this.

            Regards,
            Dave

              Hi,
We are using LSF9 for our ESS users and LAUA for our backoffice users.

Some of our ESS users will have access to backoffice forms. I took the drill around functionality with design studio but we are still allowing the select functionality. ith the select, users can also drill around (if they right click on an employee from the select window).

We want to lock that drill around. We did what Dave said but nothing seems to work. e have HR09 and HR10 set up. It looks like this is taking precedence, but the HR09 and HR10 do not work on the drill around. It only works in the HR11 tabs.
Can someone help me on this?
              Thanks,
              Lorena.

Drill around access in back office forms is secured with file security in LS, not form security in LS or HR09/10. If you want them to see, for example, only their benefits, put a rule on the benefit table to limit access to their data and then they can't drill around on other employee's data.

Remove access to all the other tables that you do not want them to drill around on. If their back office duties require access to certain tables, then you can't take drill around access from those tables.

                HTH,
                Karen
