Has anyone here upgraded from LBI 9.05 to 10?

I called Infor Support and was told that it would take 1-2 hours, maybe even less. And that it would just be an install on top of the existing one.

Is it really that easy? What should I look out for?
We are only upgrading LBI to 10. None of the other Lawson apps would be upgraded. Is that possible? recommended?

    Thanks!

I think youve got your versioning wrong. the last minor version of LBI in the 9.0.x major version was 9.0.4.2.

The effort all depends on a number of variables:
      > How many servers is your LBI instance installed on?
      > What database platform are the LBI repositories using
      > Are you using DSSO?
      > Is your current LBI instance on WebSphere 6.1?
      > Will you be upgrading Crystal components?

For someone that is experienced with LBI upgrades you can certainly complete this upgrade in a couple of hours however when you do hit an issue, they can take hours to resolve. If you have a distributed instance of LBI Id say this estimate is pretty aggressive.

Yes, I've done it. 2 hours would be a good estimate.
Are you using DSSO for LBI authentication?
The format of the pages change a little bit from 9 to 10 with 10 looking more squared-off.

It is just an upgrade of the existing LBI so you would just install on top of what you already have...
Make sure you follow the 'Upgrade existing...'

There are really no gotcha's that I've encountered. Recommended to upgrade LBI to version 10 way before your Lawson app upgrade, YES!

Matthew brings up several good points! I had assumed that you already were on Websphere 7, with the required FixPack and no updates to Crystal. Good job, Matthew!!

Thanks a lot Matthew & Greg.
Here are my responses to your questions:
            1. We are using DSSO.
            2. One server for LBI Dev another for PROD
            3. We are using SQLServer
            4. We are on Websphere 6.1
            5. Yes we have Crystal Components

Is there a problem upgrading only LBI? I mean all the other Lawson Apps will not upgraded.

(Yep, my mistake on the version. Im old!)

            Thanks in advance. You Rock!

Then your upgrade will likely take a bit more time and effort.
Some Requirements for LBI 10 are:
MS Windows Server 2008 (64-bit) * Will this require a hardware change for you?
WebSphere 7.0 with a minimum FixPack of 11 (we have FP 25 installed)
I would suggest upgrading/updating the Crystal components along with this upgrade as outlined in the Install Guide.
Go through (read and re-read) the Install guide and release notes a couple times, just to make sure that you know what you are about to undertake and follow the install guide exactly.

We had upgraded to LBI 10 last july with a similar setup except our database was oracle and we did not have any issues.

and your SQL Server version? 2008 R2 is the only version supported with LBI 10.

You dodged a bullet on the WebSphere version. Moving from 6.1 to 7 usually necessitates basically a fresh install but looks like youre in pretty good shape. I still think 2 hours is pretty optimistic and probably, if youre being meticulous and creating good documentation, it should be more like a 4-8 hour effort with no issues.

good luck and let us know how it goes.

Matthew, are you positive abour R2? We only have SQLServer 2008. The install/upgrade doc clearly says SQLServer 2008 or SQLServer 2008 R2. The document is dated May 2012, maybe it has changed.

Im not 100% but the LBI 10.1 install doc for SQL Server states:

                        Repository Database: Microsoft® SQL Server 2008 R2

I dont really see what the problem would be as the difference between SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 R2 is pretty minimal but you might want to ask Infor for an official response.

SQLServer 2012 is NOT supported either.

                              Follow question to you all:
We upgraded DEV (well Actually LMS did it). We are having some issues with the reports. They run fine before in Version 9, and now its returning reports with 0 records in LBI 10.1. It still runs perfectly in stand Alone crystal 2008. It's just in LBI 10.1 that it returns 0 records. My question is: 1. anybody out there who have had this problem?
                              2. Is it "ok" to publish CR 2008 in LBI 10.1? or do I have to go higher version Crystal?
                              Thanks!

Make sure your data sources on your RAS server are pointing to the correct place....
Yes, perfectly fine CR2008 and LBI 10.

What about Scorcard? It seems that it is with a new product in LBI 10. Has someone has experience with this?

We are still having issues with our reports in LBI 10.1. We have an open ticket with Infor Support and no resolution as of yet. One of the major issues is that some reports are returning 0 records; One particular report runs in standalone Crystal 2008 (and also 2011) and returns records. It has also been running for more than 2 years in LBI version 9.0.4. Its just that after the upgrade we are having all these issues.

You could try deleting one of your problem reports from LBI - Delete the whole thing from LBI, and start over... republish as a new report. See if that fixes things without changing the actual .rpt file.

have you tried opening the report in the same version of the designer that you have as your RAS engine, saving the report and republishing?

Gregg & Matt: Unfotunately I have tried that, and more. The report(s) have been running for more than 2 years in both DEV and PROD. Its only the upgrade that messed it up. Inspite of that I still tried to do some stuff with the report just to make sure. Also because of this we have not upgraded our PROD yet, and the reports are all running fine there. The reports are fine with Crystal 2008 and 2011 stand alone, it works. Some of the things I've done: deleted, published and republished report in both 2008 and 2011, changed DataSource from OLE to ODBC and back. I also saved the report in 2011 and the published it in PROD, and it works there.

I would do a profile on the target database and see what SQL is actually being executed. This could actually be a Reporting Services bug and not a Crystal version issue. report back what you see and we'll see if we can add anything.

I need a huge favor from anyone. We are still having this issue, and I was wondering if anybody can help me troubleshoot.
Like I have mentioned in my previous posts, we have this report that is returning 0 records (the report is generated with the headings etc but with no data). I would appreciate so much if somebody could publish this report on his/her own LBI environment and see if it works. (I would give a copy of my .rpt file and you could publish it).
                                              Thank you.

Matt: I followed your advise and worked with my dba to get the sql thrown by lbi to the db when running the report. VERY interesting: one of my filters is -->USR_STATUS='AC' OR USR_STATUS='CP'<--. However when we caught the sql from lbi it is changing it to
-->USR_STATUS='ac' OR USR_STATUS='cp'<--. Hence the 0 records. I sent this to support, and waiting on their response.
