We are in the planning phase of implementing version 10 however, we are having difficulty on who should have Smart Office. Are you purchasing Smart Office with version 10? If so, who are you purchasing licenses for: Buyers? Analysts? Inventory Control Staff? AP Clerks? Accountants? Any comments will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Smart office should be for you heads down users/core users of Lawson. You are on track with the listing you put together. Smart Office is usually a separate purchase to provide a powerful UI for your core users.

And if rumors are correct, Smart Office comes built into version 11.

Smart office is for end-users, It is a powerful User Interface to customize the screen (for inventory Control Staff, AP Clerks, Accountants etc), like for any forms you need to put some default parameters to save time, they can be set up there. I guess you need to choose between ming.le & smart office.

Greg I hope you're right! At the last NELUG conference we were told that it would go away with version 11.
The above are all correct, heads down/transactional/data entry users will love it.

Sorry to disappoint you Greg and dcaiani, but it was annouced at Inforum 2014 that Smart Office would not be part of version 11.
However, it will continue to be supported for many years for those clients on v 9 and v 10.

Since I'm only doing Smart Office development, I will not be involved with development in v 11.
However, you can be certain there will be some integration with Excel in v 11.
