While considered, the process still needs some manual review so we passed on the idea. For example, the failure to release in PO30, either through distraction or because the attempt was rejected due to an improper quantity entered and no attempt was made to correct. The same would apply to incomplete issues and transfers related to stock levels vs. issue/transfer quantities. All of these open transactions will in turn bring the final closeout to a screeching halt. Easier to just run each process, review the files for issues, and move on once resolved. Now the time it takes to do a closeout may be different for a larger organization but it works just fine for us (2000 employees, >100 beds, county hospital.
