Masking SSN in ESS

We have been asked by our IT Security department to mask employees' social security numbers. There has been a bit of discussion going around. Security is concerned about phishing scams and HR believes that employees need a place to be able to view and confirm their SSN. Anyone else dealing with something like this? How would you mask the SSN anyway?

Hi, what version of EMSS are you on? I just checked ours and it is masking SSN to be just last 4 on the Personal Profile and the printable pay stub. We are on EMSS 9.0.1.6. For the benefit enrollment summary, I think we had to modify the code in the htm page and the process flow email to hide the SSN.

I believe it is a configuration setting in EMSS.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. We are on 9.0.1.0507. Does your version default to that masked setting? Also, would you share the rationale behind your orgranization's reason to have the SSN masked?
