XML Node in Processflow Integrator

I'm sort of new to using the XML functionality in Process Flow Integrator. I'm looking to write an interface that reads data out of an .xml file. I've got an .xml file that seems to be formatted correctly, but I can't figure out how to setup the xml node to read the file. It seems to me that you can only write xml files with this node...is that correct? If I enter the XML Schema file it can read that ok but not the actual xml file that contains the records I want to interface. Any suggestions on how I can do this.
