I am just getting back into Lawson after being absent for about three years. I am working on version 8x on a iSeries and we would like to refresh our test environment. In the past we simply took a backup of our LAWDBxF library and restored it to LAWDBFxT. Is this still true with version 8x of Lawson?

No, you've got to use their export/import tools for copying data. They have KnowledgeBase articles on what to do. The problem is that the data library is an sql collection, meaning all files are journaled to a journal called qsqjrn in the data library. When you save/restore journaled files to a different library, they are still journaled to the original journal, not the new one in the restore library. So you have to end/restart journaling for 6000-7000 files.

There are many other changes in 8.x from 7.2. Copying environment info, like users, is limited. Lawson provides a set of tools that is incomplete and is quite unhelpful when you ask for more. They also insist that you load all your environments individually. There are no instructions for copying an environment the way we did it in 7.2.
