Automatic device import

I have been tasked with finding a way to automate the import of delivery devices for both Reporting Services and Smart Notifications.
I can get a file created and it will work going through the 'wizard', but am wondering if there is a way that I can automate or script this?

This would cut down on errors, save time, save confusion.  ie someone changes their name, their email address changes too.  If we could figure out how to automate the import to both update and create new devices for changes, or additions.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Can I just automate the Import-devices.html page some how? I'm not good with Java, so would need almost a cook-book like example.

I'm working on one - trying to leverage the java code in the XSL and JSP files in the WAR folder. I'll post WHEN (not if) I get this completed.

The other option is simply to update the tables. We are weighing pros/cons of both options.

The problem that I face with just updating the tables, is figuring out which tables to update. And to be sure I have them all... that's why I haven't pursued that option any further.

I have this on my list to ask while at CUE. I have also had some conversations with other users about putting in an enhancement request to build this functionality to make it easier on those that use it.

I will let you all know what I hear.

So we discussed this topic at CUE in my session, two have found a way with scripting to auto load the changes. Many others seemed to want that functionality. I caught up with Lee Kilmer who is director of product support for Lawson. He indicated that if I put a list of enhancements together he would be the man to assist.

I will put another topic out here and to my contact list to gather all the enhancements to get to him.

I will keep you updated and post what I have from everyone.
