Is it possible to use Design Studio in Manager Self Service.  We would like to block some of the links to employee information.

Depends on what you want to do, I guess.
if you want to control the access, you probably need to do it from the bookmark manager.
Any changes to the content, probably involve changes to the html or js files.
If you just want give them a custom screen, sure, create a bookmark, point it to a custom screen built using DS.
