Has anyone used the custom group feature for lbi 9031. I would like to create a custom group and add different lbi roles to this custom group. Then give a report access to this custom group.

Can a custom group work for this. if not has anyone be able to acheive this ?

    thanks,

      Ruma,

Take a look at Custom Security Groups. Its a much more efficient way to handle report permissions. There was a bug in previous releases of LBI where if you had access to a report via custom groups and you tried to search for reports from a dashboard you wouldnt see those reports. I think those bugs were worked out in 9.0.3.1 but I would definitely test that.

Thanks for the reply. I do like the report security groups in 9031 since they have permissions as well as as the users. However when I try to assign this report security group to a report the add users is not listing this as an option.

Is there something else to this that I am overlooking ?

you have to use the Add Security Group. Two buttons to the left of Add User.

Hi, I'm new to Lawsonguru and just learning LBI. Can I network with you to learn how you set up your groups? I'm trying to figure out how to set up our system so that report rights are assigned to Lawson Security groups. We have almost 600 LBI users and I do not want to maintain rights by individual user. I'll never learn to use this cool tool if I'm stuck doing user maintenance all the time. I'm at joanna.bledsoe@jhsmh.org. Any input will be most appreciated!!

              Joanna,

In order to help build a knowledge base for LBI info Im gunna keep this in the thread.

Direct integration with Lawson Security Groups is not currently an available feature in LBI. While user authentication with Lawson security is available, the data authorization. What we've done to mitigate having to maintain separate user data authorization in LBI and Lawson is set up an ETL process to create a rights upload file that is based on the Lawson Security groups.

My preferred tool to do this is SQL Server 2005 Integration Services but you can also accomplish this if youre a hotshot ProcessFlow developer or Ive also done it using Oracle Packages.

hth and good luck. Welcome to LBI!

              Matt

Hi Matt,  I so appreciate your feedback.  You just saved me hours of work by explaining that Lawson Security (LS) integration to LBI is not robust.
