During our implementation, we are needing to copy all BN setup info from one dataset to another. In lieu of typing all of this in manually it would be easier to copy the tables from the one dataset to the other using the importdb commands. We only want to copy over the stuff that is benefits related.
My concern is that I'm sure of ALL of the tables involved in this - sometimes putting something on BNxx will create an entry in a NON BN table.
I reviewed the technical text guide which will give you the tables affected when using the various programs (i.e. bn15.1, bn18.1). Would that be sufficient to ensure that all info is put where it should be?
Manually entering all of the benefit setup info will take nearly 40 hours, so the importdb is looking good at this point and we may be looking at this for the payroll setup once it is done.
any advice? suggestions? warnings?
Thanks in advance!

Beverly, it's awfully complicated and error-prone to try to do that. I have done it before in certain situations (e.g. client had procurement and financials in different product lines, or financials & HR in different product lines, etc.) but it does require some programming to re-sync things like object-ids etc. And it requires a really thorough analysis and testing testing testing....
What I'd recommend (and have done many times successfully) is to use the Excel add-ins query wizard to extract all the relevant data from the test product line and then use the upload wizard to reload it. It's much easier, it's repeatable (i.e. document it, and save the .dme/.uwf files), and it's supported.

I am trying to upload contributions for BN plans, any tips on how to do this since the BN19 options form is connected to the BN18? I have the plans in place and only need to change the contribution amounts.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Dana.

Don't you have Excel Add-ins ? That will be a safer option.

I agree with Ragu - here's a link to multiple spread sheets that are formatted already -

I use the one for premiums every year - works like a charm. Good luck

Stephanie...of course the link you have provided is no longer available and is only available through Lawson Marketplace.
Would you be willing to share the template you have used in the past?
