Using Citrix To Access Infor Applications

We are looking into using Citrix for employees to access EMSS,Smart Office, Mobile Supply Chain, etc. Mostly to resolve issues with browser compatibility. Are there any gotchas that we should be aware of. One of the questions that came up was how is printing handled. Does the employee have the ability to print reports or check stubs to a printer that is defined on their PC? If the Citrix session times out, but the employee is still logged into Infor how is that handled? Any information that you can provide would be helpful. Thank you.

We haven't seen this yet with Lawson, but we have had other applications where the Citrix farm wasn't sized correctly to handle the load of users. For Lawson specifically, we do allow it to be accessed through Citrix and actually that is our standard workaround if a user is having trouble accessing from their machine. In our case, the only options for printers are those set up within Citrix, since it is a virtual desktop local machine printers are not available. I haven't seen or heard of any issues with the Citrix session timing out and causing problems for the active Lawson instance. I just tried it and Lawson still worked fine after the Citrix session expired.

We are on V10 and use Citrix for the HTML5 EMSS for employees to avoid the hassels of browser incompatibility. We had hoped to get away from Citrix altogether as prior upgrades (pre HTML5)with the java applet forces a redeployment of the Citrix image after each upgrade and many java applet issues while in production. While going through the V10 upgrade we also upgraded our corporate IE to IE11 and it had to be to a specific IE11 version to allow for Group policy setting at the website level. This was needed since some Infor application need the compatibility flag on while others needed it off. So you may need different browser settings on the Citrix sessions for say MSCM version EMSS depending which version you are on.
Printing can be an issue depending on your setup as the Citrix desktop session may not have the printers that your local PC will have setup. This is particularly true for employees accessing the site from home and attempting to print to their home computer.
