NEED Oldtimer Lawson GURU HELP (version 7.33, 7.2)

    • Lawson has stated that we can not journal on IFS, however, the only explanation that they can provide is that clients in the past have had an issue with "print and jobs"
    • We're in the middle of a data center migration and OS upgrade project with cut over next weekend
    • We've had Mimex lib/objs journaling turned on for the last several weeks
    • Turned on Mimex to journal IFS (with 2 minute delay); 28 Lawson Job Scheduler (recdef) jobs failed on Production (errors include can not open config and can not access print folder)
    • We've isolated that the jobs fail prior to even submitting the CL to the AS400 OS.  (This points to Lawson job scheduler)
    • We are journaling the IFS for our EDI jobs (non-Lawson) on the same server without issue, issue is definitely isolated to Lawson
    • Lawson's only advice is to turn off journaling for IFS!!!! They can't troubleshoot 3rd party (we are on extended support agreement with Lawson)
    • IF WE CAN'T JOURNAL THE IFS THAN WE CAN NOT DELIVER A HIGH AVAILABILTY SYSTEM!!! (Lawson's response is frustrating)
    • We believe that the first thing the Lawson Job Scheduler does is creates a job log and print folder, we are not sure what it does beyond this, however we are trying to omit the IFS Joblog from our journaling process.
    • We are trying to examine recdef to understand what other file it uses that may be colliding with the Mimex program
    • We have increased our delay from 2 minutes to 5 minutes on the journal process
    • Does anyone have a history in dealing with the Lawson 7.33 architecture (GEN) that can provide insite into the Job Scheduler logic?
    • Does anyone have experience high availability on AS400?

      Hi Dorrie --

We just upgraded to Lawson 9.0 on iSeries this past weekend.  Over the next month and a half we will be implementing HA for Lawson 9 using iTera.  I don't have any of the the questions you have answered, but once we get going, I will be glad to share our experiences with you.
