We're seriously looking at moving our current Lawson environment from Windows 2003 to AIX 6.1.  We currently are at LSF 9.0.1 ESP 5 and 901 MSP 4 applications along with Websphere 6.1 fixpack 33.  Has anyone done this change in operating systems?  If so, how did it go?  What issues did you have?

This is very do-able, but I can't imagine why you would do this? Chances are your organization is not moving off of Windows all together. Do your unix admins not have enough to do, or did you get a new manager w/a unix background.

Why not just move to 2008-R2 and save yourself and your Lawson admin from the expense of learning a new OS?

There has to be more behind this decision. What is the justification?

Lastly, I would give strong consideration to Infor's stated technology direction prior to the Lawson aquisition. It's not likely to depart from it easily.

I noticed this announcement was under Infor's prior CEO.  Charles Phillips became the new Infor CEO just after the announcement.  Phillips was from Oracle, who embraces UNIX, so it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

        Thanks for the information.

          Hi

We are planning to migrate from Lawson UINX OS to Windows OS and I want to know to what are the software configurations which are required from Lawson 9.0 windows perspective. Any reference guide or any documentation will help us in estimating.

We are currently using lawson 8.0.3 and we are on Apache webserver, and UNIX AIX.

          Any suggestion will help us.

          Thanks in advance.

          Regards
          Sam

All the requirements are listed in the Lawson Core Technology Installation guide. You are going to need it if you are installing/migrating the environment. Might as well have your client download it or have your client setup a support account for you.
