GL197 - Period/Year End GL Commitments Accrual
**Form Purpose
Run Period/Year End GL Commitments Accrual (GL197) to accrue the commitment
and encumbrance expenses. The system uses the commitment and encumbrance
records to create an auto reversing journal entry for all the records in the
period.
You can indicate that an accrual journal entry will be created for the
existing commitments and encumbrances, or you can specify that an FB journal
entry will be created to update next years commitment budget, for the
commitments and encumbrances moved forward.
**Important**
Before you run Period Year End GL Commitment Accrual (GL197), you must define
a commitment accrual account on Detail Account (GL00.3).
**More Help**
The system will use the accrual account to offset the expenses from the
commitment and encumbrance records, and create an auto reversing entry for the
next period.
**Processing Effect**
Accrue Commitments, Encumbrances: The default value for this field is No. If
you select Yes, anauto-reversing JE is created in the current period that
debits expenditures and credits the encumbrance control account. Also, date
fields on GLCOMMITX are updated to move the amounts forward. GLCOMMIT balances
are updated for the current and next year.
Update Next Year Commitment Budget: The default value for this field is No.

current and next year.
