I work at a small community hospital in central PA. We just installed and converted to Lawson v 10.0.3. I am right in the middle of activating the MSCM piece of it (on a minor scale). One of the functions is to issue from the handhelds. A part of doing that is identifying the area that you are issuing to with a "location label". It's just a barcode that identifies which department you are going to issue the items to. We cannot get the handheld to recognize that barcode. Has anyone had a problem with this?

When we were first going live with MSCM we had some issues. We printed several different types of bar codes before finding the ones that worked best with our guns. Mostly we use 2D in our warehouse but the labels needed for our par carts are so tiny that we ended up using a single alpha barcode for those items. It really depended on the device and it's capabilities.

Hi Dave,
We are running MSCM 9.0.1.2.11. I found the Lawson documentation on Issues to be a bit inaccurate. I have successfully bar coded and scanned Inventory Location, Requesting Location and Item on the RAD Issues screen.
We only have 1 company and it defaults on my Issues screen so I didn't need to bar code that.
The inventory location needs to be in the format of LL:company:inventory location. For example, our Company number is 1000 and we have an Inventory Location of A1RHS, so the bar code data is LL:1000:A1RHS
The Requesting Location need to be in the format of LL:company:requesting location. For example, our Company number is 1000 and we have an Requesting Location of HNM02, so the bar code data is LL:1000:HNM02
Contrary to the documentation, the Item only needs to contain the Item Number and not the IL:item number format. For example, we have an Item Number of 11692, so all that is in the bar code data is 11692.
Hope this is helpful.

Thank you for the response. This is my first time posting and I am thrilled that people use this system so effectively. I will look into what you said.

I'm using format Code128A with a Honeywell Dolphin 9900. I just tried Code39 and it did not work.
