I am trying to determine the best way to account for different Wellness Credits for different benefit plan years. Basically our employees are either eligible for the credit or they aren't. However they may not have been eligible in 2010, but are now eligible in 2011.

We use the Lifestyles Credit flag by setting it to a "1" if they participate and it gives them the credit on their benefits. Everyone has to enroll in the program to get the credit. They can enroll one year and not the next and vice versa.

The problem is when we are in open enrollment, we have to "reset" the system to reflect the 2011 lack of credit, but then turn it back on/off to reflect 2010's enrollment.

    Employee A - 1 for 2010, 0 for 2011

If we dont "reset" it to 0 before we load 2011 benefits, it will change the rate to the lower rates. But we then have to change it back to 1 so that 2010 rates are reflected properly.

Is there anyone else dealing with this and if so, how are administering, so that the rates show up correctly for each plan year?

Our only thought is to have "0" if they arent participating in either year; "1" for year 1 only, "2" for year 2 only, and "3" for both years.

        Jana,

We have not and we are still processing it using the 1 then 0 then 1...

Perhaps someone will see this now that it has been moved up to the front.  Or if you have any ideas, I would love to hear them.  We are still trying to ifgure out how best to deal with these.

We are in the planning stage with regards to tracking wellness participation (successful vs unsuccessful).  I was planning on using life style credits in HR11. In your post I noticed that you were having troubles tracking multiple years of life style credits.  Do you save life style credit data to history using the HR10?  We currently do this for the BENSal1 field which we populate with prior year salary and use to calculate LTD premiums. When we use addins to post the file via the PA52 it creates the history record.

This is what I would like to test for our organization.  We are planning to have those who unsuccessfully complete the wellness criteria assigned to a specific employee group.  This group will be attached to a specific benefit plan that will be set as the default.

I would like to hear from anyone who may have tested saving the life style information to history.

David - we do keep the history - however the history is not tied to the employee group that we have set up to recieve the Wellness discount for medical coverage. So the history on HR54 does not help this situation - at least not that I am aware of. If someone knows it to handle this differently, I would love to hear it.

We also use the BENSAL fields for our life and disability coverage amounts, but that does not rely on employee groups to determine coverage amount or rates.
