    Hello,

I will start by saying I am not very familiar with Lawson software, but I have been tasked with helping to get our ESS module to allow people to access ESS outside of our network, basically available to the web. We currently run Lawson on an iSeries system.

The person tasked with this previously has left the company and he didn't have much luck getting it working so there are few notes and documents around what was done or what needed to be done.

My basic understanding is that an IIS server needs to be created and the iSeries WAS needs to talk to a WAS plug-in on the windows IIS server. Then a certificate needs to be generated to secure the connection. I am not having much luck finding any documentation that gives me step-by-step instructions on how to accomplish this, so I am hoping maybe someone here may have had some experience doing this same thing and maybe documented the process.

    Any info would be beneficial.

     Thanks!

Hi Craig - Welcome! Ck out these 2 threads, that I found to be very informative. (Albeit, we have not yet made E/MSS external)

Those are helpful, but I'm still spinning my wheels trying to get more details on exactly what needs to be done.
I need something more like Making ESS External for Dummies.

We currently only allow access via a Citrix connection, which for a number of reasons is less than desirable.

I was recently listening in on the last/first KS/MO user group virtual meeting where the first presenter was doing a 'what you may have missed' presentation from Infor and one of the items that they mentioned is that Infor has (as of Oct 2014) released a new solution for internet facing application that includes EMSS 10.

You may want to follow up directly with your Infor Consulting Services contact for your company and see if they have any information to share on what the costs/recommendations are for their solution vs. trying to roll your own.

We are interested in following up with that, but right now have way too many projects on our plate to even eye it.

One thing you will want to ensure you ask about (and the reason why we went with a Citrix based solution) is what browsers would be supported using Infor's solution. We already are having problems with internal users having been upgraded to the latest version of IE maintaining 100% functionality.

I'd hate to see the headaches you'd give your support team if they had work with end users using Safari, Chrome, etc. if Infor hasn't explicitly said that their solution includes support for that.

Our system is accessible to all users, via our website. We are on 9.01 and have had ESS available for several years now. But we never would have been able to do this ourselves. We used consultant(s), and I would suggest that to anyone that was trying to do this.

Not sure if it will help, but there is a webinar coming up:

Thanks for the Heads-up. This may be beneficial to attend.

Currently, Lawson says talk to IBM and IBM says talk to Lawson so we are stuck in the middle and may have to go the route of bringing in someone to help.

                Craig,
I am the consultant who did the implementation that CindyW is referring to. It is straightforward to technically perform the exposing of LSF into a DMZ, but the issues will be potentially legal, audit, and/or risk.

Feel free to give me a call.
