    Hi,

We are working on the ESS implementation and we are trying to change the home page.

We want to remove the Useful information box (that contains the hotkeys help and the Portal user help).

Can someone know how to do it?

    Thanks,

    Lorena.

We have changed the portal.xml role file to point to LBI, so when the ESS user signs in they see the LBI dashboard for Employees. The key with the way we did this was to update home.htm that is called in the role file. Without pointing to home.htm the updates to the bookmarks will not populate properly.

That's a very good idea. Currently, we are not using dashboard but we have LBI and we are looking into it.

        Thank you.

If you have specific questions about how we did this, just reach out to me when ready and I can provide more details.

            Hi Mark,

Can you give me some information on how you did it?

I would like to know how much work will be involved in implementing the portal page through the dashboard.

            Thanks a lot,
            Lorena

What you are looking to do is actual very easy with portal roles. From a default browser (as a portal administrator) you go to portal roles. Create a role or copy one and then you can change the home page to a custom created html page (modify the one that is provided.) Also, from the portal roles define what you want the role to see - bookmarks, search criteria, help, etc...

Now for the users you want to use the new role just assign that role within LSA for each user within User Maintenance. (If you have a lot of users there are tools to automate the update of the role.)

I created a copy of the portal.xml, modified it and point the users to the new one, but I can not remove the Useful information box that it is located on the right hand side.

We were looking for a way to "redirect" users to a consent form but did not want to get into modifying Lawson code to do a redirect to a custom form. This would work great if the role can control this as we could automate who is in the role based ontheir consent status. Where do you declare the users home page for the role?

Just to clarify - these are ESS users I'm talking about. We control home page options by mods to the default.xml file and menu content by assigning to specific groups. Are you talking about the Portalrole field in LS admin?

I am sorry but I am not a security officer and I do not know how they are doing that.
I only modify the default.xml page and someone else is doing the rest.

So what are you putting in the default.xml file to accomplish the home page change?

We didn't customize it a lot. The only thing that we did it is taking the search box (and old the options besides the box).
We also took the options under the common tasks. The only one left is change password.
I created a copy of the default.xml and I comment out the lines that I did not want.

Ok, we do the same thing, but this is just changing some of the frame content options but not the home page. I need certain users to land on a different page when their portal role is changed.
We pop a different index.html file in place when Lawson is down for maintenance so users get a splash page, but for this situation I need it to be selective by user rather than system wide.

On version 10 now and i am having some difficulty getting the home page to work in a "USER FRIENDLY" manner. Navigating in the new 10 version has not been well recurved by ESS users.

Any one so anything impressive to make home a better everyone?
