    Hello,

I work at 400'ish bed hospital with around 3500 employees (educational setting). We are currently running Lawson for GL, Procurement, RSS, A/P, MSCM with some Enterprise Reporting and a little ProcessFlow thrown in.

We are looking to roll out an upgrade which includes all of the above in an LSF9 (Windows/SQL) environment plus H/R, Benefits, ESS, Talent Management, Payroll, and LBI.

What sort of I.T. resources are other companies finding they need to run a system like this?  Please include numbers and skill-sets.

    thanks in advance!

I used to work at a similar sized healthcare organization. They had 5 IT admins and a manager. Then HR, Finance, and Procurement each had business side teams totaling about 8 staff and 3 managers.

         Thanks,

What sort of I.T. resources?  And are they fully dedicated to the Lawson project or are they part time?

I have a client who is about a third your size (150 beds). They have LSF9, 9.0 apps, RSS, and MSCM. They have one HRIS admin, one MM admin, and one IT admin who does security, patches, DBA work, etc. I help them with customizations, server builds, etc.
Thanks for using the LawsonGuru.com forums!

Your type of resources should not change a lot because of the upgrade. You will not need Tomcat anymore if that is your web server. You sill need a System Administrator with knowledge of either Tivoli or ADAM and some Websphere.

If you are using Talent Management that is a hosted solution but still requires some administration on the client side, but the only "system" resource you really need is for configuration and setup to connect to the host server at first.

We aren't a hospital but we have about 3,500 employees spread all over the U.S. at about 75 locations. Our two largest facilities are in Kansas with about 150 people at our headquarters and 300 or so at a major call center. Our entire I.T. staff is about 70 people or so, but only three (including myself) are full-time dedicated to Lawson support. We make full use of the Lawson suite including Human Resources, Financials, and Procurement. We also have Lawson eRecruiting, Budgeting & Planning, EssBase, Employee & Manager Self-Service, ProcessFlow, and EDI. A few members of our IT Help Desk have been tasked with the resposiblility to maintain user accounts and we have three DBAs that are responsible for taking care of all Lawson application databases (in addition to the multitude of other databases our company employs).

              Hope this info helps.

Could anybody there give me some place or book that I could learn Lawson SOftware from a technical point of view?

The documentation library from Lawson, the support library and all the active professional forums...
