    Hey all,

I am running into endless frustration with Lawson Support, so I am hoping that this community may be able to assist in some way.

I am trying to install the 2011 end of year CTP (although this issue would apply to any CTP). The command fails with the following error: ERROR - 'tar xf D:/PROD/patch_staging/patch.tar' command failed. I have tried running the lawappinstall command both in LID and directly from the command prompt on my server and I get the same error.

I am using Windows 2008 Server and running Lawson 9.0.1.7.

I am fairly certain that the failure is due to the tar command attempting to change the owner of the files that it decompresses (though I am not sure what it is trying to set the uid/gid to) and is hitting an error by trying to change the ownership to a non-existent user. I know that when I manually run a tar command from lid, I use the -xvfo switches and the -o switch prevents the attempt to change ownership, however, I don't see a way (or haven't been able to figure out a way) to force the lawappinstall command to run the tar command differently.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This sounds like it may be a problem with the PATH variable being set incorrectly or not being set at all in your session. Try running the enter.cmd file from your %LAWDIR% directory at the command prompt and then try installing the CTP again.
If this works, create a file called profile.bat in your home directory which executes your enter.cmd file each time you login. Something like C:\lsftest\enter.cmd or whatever the path is in your %lawdir% variable.
