401(k) Match Issue

Started by  Chris Puckett
I hope someone out there has figured out a workaround for this Lawson limitation. We have some employees that receive more pay in the first of the year (bonus, commissions, whatever) then they might later in the year. Thus, these employees contribute heavier to their 401(k) in the first quarter to where their entire pre-tax limit might be hit after a few months. Problem comes with the company match and how Lawson handles it. Someone that contributes 15k in three months would get ...

Two Paymaster Issues

Started by  Gwen Seaman
Does anyone have a solution for the following scenerio: We set up our organization as one company in the Lawson HR/PR system with multiple Process Levels to represent our various business units. Two of these are 'Head Process Levels' (paymasters with different tax I.D.'s) When an employee transfers between the two pay masters, Lawson handles the FICA tax maximum limit by looking at earnings in both Process Levels. It also handles splitting the cost of benefits. BUT...

HR11 Paintscreen

Started by  Deleted User
I have done several paintscreens in Finance. Typically an OBJ-ID pointer gets 'whacked' and is off by one, and it's easy to make a paintscreen, update the obj-id, and Lawson is happy. Not so with the HR11 record. I am getting a StoreDB error Duplicate Record with a particular company, employee, OBJ-ID, field number, date and sequence number (0000). When I build a paintscreen and flip to that employee, I cannot find that object ID. I admit I do not fully understand ...

Roth 401(k) setup/configuration issues

Started by  Shane Jones
Anyone implement a ROTH 401(k) We are looking at this but finding it rather difficult in Lawson. Should be a simple solution but the system does not calculate limits appropriately. (sharing) Lawson says that there will be a BSI solution at some point but we want to implement now and need to know if anyone has found a good solution. Thanks in advance. Shane

FLSA Overtime in Rhode Island and Mass.

Started by  Karl Kemp
We are trying to implement PR132 – FLSA OVERTIME CALCULATION in our payroll stream and are trying to figure out how to set-up and use for both Massachusetts and Rhode Island. According to the legal documentation that we have found, the following rules need to be applied for these states: Massachusetts: a) 1-1/2 times regular rate after 40 hour week for employees covered by state minimum wage law. b) Retail, drug or food stores with more than 7 employees on any day during ...

Multi-Company Employee ID Assignment

Started by  Deleted User
Currently, our employees are captured in Lawson using different company codes for each country. For example, Company 11 = US, Company 12 = Canada. Up until now, we manually assign a unique and sequential number to our employees. But, now Id like to leverage Lawson's 'Auto Employee' functionality so that we do not have to manually assign them. Because each Company is considered a separate entity in Lawson, it allows the duplication of Employee numbers across Companies which we d...

Reporting Environment

Started by  Deleted User
Im am using a host of tools (Report Writer, Crystal, Access) to report data against Lawson HR and Financials. However, as I get more and more complex requests, I find myself massaging the data alot in the MS Access enviroment to meet some of my reporting requirements. Id like to understand how other practitioners have their reporting environments setup. Do you use Lawson's data mart solutions Or have you built a custom DW What are the challenges you still face with your solution ...

Tracking Scholarships

Started by  Mark Petereit
We're a regional hospital and issue a good number of scholarships to assist nursing students with tuition. Our recruiters have been keeping track of the scholarship awards and periodic tuition payments in an Access database. I'm on a crusade to eliminate as many peripheral ad-hoc systems as I can, for maintainance and security reasons. Now, my recruiters tell me that the IRS wants to begin taxing scholarships/tuition assistance as income (don't have all the details there.) Is anyon...

Education not appearing in EMSS

Started by  Roger French
I am on a test environment, and I have several test employees with Education verified in HR11. However in Employee Self-Service, *NO* education is appearing in the Education bookmark. The page is just blank, ... nothing. I am in the correct productline and yes again, I have verified the Education DOES exist. This happens for ANY employee, and I've refreshed/recycled the environment. Any ideas Thank you, Roger

Payroll Setup for Salaried Non-Exempt Staff

Started by  Deleted User
Hello- I'm completely new to Lawson/HRIS management, but I'm in charge of this issue anyway! We are running Lawson 8.0.3 and currently have payroll set up to pay 2 types of staff: hourly/non-exempt and salaried/exempt; our hourly/non-exepmt staff enter hours through a Web Time Entry program tied to employee self-service. We need to set up a new group of positions that are salaried and non-exempt. I saw in another thread that at a minimum this involves creating new positions ...

Year End Processing

Started by  Deleted User
We are trying to plan for our first year end processing with the HR Suite. I'm interested in known how others have handled this in the past with regards to: 1. What testing, if any, do you perform on the year end download from Lawson 2. If you do test this, what do you do and how do you confirm it is correct 3. Does anyone perform a complete test of the setup guidelines and run a sample payroll before doing a prod setup Any advice on year end would be helpful. Thanks.

eRecruit Upgrade

Started by  John Costa
We are on version 5.8.0 of eRecruit (way behind.....). We want to go to version 5.8.4. Can I get away with doing a complete new install of eRecruit version 5.8.4 and simply run the database upgrade scripts to bring our database up to date Since we are so far behind in our applications, we are having a great deal of difficulty finding all of the components to upgrade to each release in succession from 5.8.0, to 5.8.1, to 5.8.2, etc.

PR140 Totals do not balance

Started by  Deleted User
We are using version 8.03 and are having problems in testing with the PR140 detail not balancing to the process level total or to the company total. It looks like the hours are doubling on the process level total page and then tripling on the company total page. It only seems to be happening on one of our process levels and consistently is out of balance even when we run the payroll for just one employee. Does anyone have a solution We have several user exits for pay codes and deducti...
